Coronavirus Updates

Dear Families and Friends of Gulf Coast Village,

As we continue to see the state and local government agencies place restrictions on group gatherings and mandate the closing/curtailing of certain government agencies, businesses and public areas, I want to express to all residents and family members that the key to controlling the spread of the virus is through social distancing. The more residents go out of the buildings at Gulf Coast Village, the more chances they have to come in contact with someone carrying the virus, or with a hard surface contaminated with the virus. That is also why social distancing and frequent hand washing with soap and water are your best lines of defense. We continue to screen and temperature check all residents, associates, essential vendors and providers.

As we all adjusting to this new normal, Gulf Coast Village is continuing to put together committees to help resolve new issues. In Independent Living we are setting up a workstation that will be staffed by our associates to assist residents with placing online orders for delivery. We hope to make this available to all community residents shortly. In addition, we are reassigning some of our team members to be personal shoppers, gathering shopping lists and going out in the community for residents. We have added additional computer resources for Skype communications between residents and their loved ones. And we have changed most of our management meetings to conference calls or virtual meetings to limit exposures. Overall, the mood at our community remains positive considering the major disruptions to our daily routines.

Meal service continues to change based on the new requirements to limit group settings for meals. Currently in Independent Living we have available: breakfast to-go from our Café, and pre-order lunch and dinner – delivered to residents upon request (or they can pick-up). At Palmview Assisted Living we are delivering 3 meals daily to residents, and separating memory support residents as much as possible in their dining rooms. And finally, in the Care Center and Transitional Care we are doing a combination of social distancing in the dining rooms as well as meals delivered to rooms.

We are discouraging any visitors on our community grounds through at least April 15th, as our residents frequent the various outdoor spaces and we want to prevent any possibly exposure to family and friends who have not been screened or temperature checked. Please reach out to a member of our team if we can assist you in any way, including arranging for a Skype conversation.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Best,
Greg Anderson
