Gulf Coast Village taking residents and guests on a trip around the world
Gulf Coast Village, Cape Coral’s only life plan community, is starting the new year off right with a globetrotting adventure. On Thursday, Jan. 9, Gulf Coast Village will host Cocktails, Conversations, and Collaborations, giving residents and guests a first look at the community’s newest art exhibit, “Around the World in 50 Days.”
The event takes place at Gulf Coast Village, 1333 Santa Barbara Blvd. in Cape Coral on Thursday, Jan. 9, beginning at 2 p.m.
This exhibit is a unique collaboration between Gulf Coast Village and the North Fort Myers Arts Association. It’s the second installment in the “Gulf Coast Gallery” art exhibition series. Local and resident artists will be displaying their mixed media art with an international flair, some of which is for sale.
A painting by artist Sunny Lee, a Gulf Coast Village resident, is the first piece in the exhibit. She will be on hand to talk about her storied life as an artist that began at age four, as well as her career in the military alongside her husband Ron. In addition to works by Sunny Lee and other local artists, the acclaimed Southwest Florida artist Douglas MacGregor will be displaying some of his artwork.
Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with residents about why they love living at Gulf Coast Village.
“We’re excited to once again showcase some of the amazing artwork our residents and the North Fort Myers Arts Association has created,” said Ryan Keller, regional vice president of senior living for Volunteers of America National Services. “It’s not just an opportunity for our residents and local community to admire art, but also a chance to embrace a fresh start by exploring something new.”
To register for the event, please RSVP by Jan. 2 by calling 239-510-8712. If you are unable to attend the Jan. 9 event, the “Around the World in 50 Days” exhibit will be open to the public daily through Feb. 27 at Gulf Coast Village.
